Dear Alumni,

The Wayland Academy experience provides many opportunities for students to gain knowledge and develop positive characteristics. Everyday, I am surprised how the students eagerly meet the many challenges presented to them in the classroom and in co-curricular activities. Perhaps, as you browsed Wayland's Web site the many pictures of students seeming to have fun while obtaining Knowledge and Character reminds you of your Wayland experience.

At Wayland Academy, the majority of knowledge transformation takes place in the classroom environment. Although character development takes place in the classrooms too, much more life ready character is developed outside of the traditional educational setting. At Wayland, students develop life ready character by living in our diverse campus community, from the challenges encountered on a football field or basketball court, from the teamwork necessary to produce an on stage production, from a spirited debate of a current political topic, or from a quiet conversation with a mentor or classmate over lunch.

I get to witness the Knowledge and Character development process of current students on a daily basis. While visiting alumni, I get to witness the finished product of a Wayland Academy experience up close. With every visit, I am truly amazed how Wayland alums are exceptional people, making a real positive impact on our society. Thank you for sharing with me your experiences while at Wayland and since.
